Coastline

Andi Talbot
The coastline is quiet at this time of year
waves crash silent out of respect
because sometimes
silence is bigger than a gesture
and sometimes
noise isn't enough

the lights this season
dance along the shore
sending
a Morse code message
of festive hope

It's almost December
I can see my breath
my hands are numb
my feet are cold
and I'm alive
and this year
that's enough
